When To Introduce Bottles Of Pumped Milk

How will I know when baby is ready to try a bottle?

Some babies need a bottle early on but, if possible, try to wait until breastfeeding is established and going well. Nursing should feel like a positive experience for both you and your baby before introducing bottles of pumped milk.  You want to establish a strong breastfeeding relationship to lessen the chance of baby rejecting the nursing experience once the bottle is introduced. For some moms, that is about two weeks post-delivery, and for others it can be as much as 6 weeks post-delivery. Having a positive attitude and confidence in your breastfeeding ability will help establish that positive relationship and ensure your baby will come back to your breasts.
