Lisa Araki is a board certified lactation consultant at My Nursing Coach in Los Angeles, CA.

My name is Lisa Araki. I am from Los Angeles, CA, and have been residing in Santa Clarita for almost 10 years. I am a mother of four beautiful children, three girls and one boy. My son is 9 years old, my oldest daughter is 6 and my twin girls are 10 months.

I became a lactation educator in 2002 and worked with Linda Hanna at her breastfeeding and mother-baby retail location, Mommyzone, from 2003-2006. After this, I started working at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital and continued my education to become a Board Certified Lactation Consultant through the University of San Diego extension program in 2007. At Henry Mayo, I dedicated 7 years to helping new mommies in the hospital setting. I also had the opportunity to work with outpatients, and I spent two years working in the NICU with high-risk infants.

I have dedicated my career to helping and educating new mommies and babies about breastfeeding. People always ask, “what got you into this kind of work?” My reply is always the same: “my job found me.” I can hardly call this a job as it’s more of a passion. It’s the most rewarding and satisfying feeling for me to be a part of a mother’s breastfeeding bond with her baby.

In February 2014, I wanted to focus on more of a hands-on, intimate approach to breastfeeding education, so I joined the My Nursing Coach team. There is such a need for follow-ups in the home setting and My Nursing Coach was the perfect opportunity to provide that kind of care. I started working with Linda Hanna again in March 2014, and every day has been a great learning experience. There is never a dull moment and I enjoy every minute of it! My Nursing Coach has also given me the opportunity to meet the most amazing mothers and their babies. I feel so blessed to be a part of such an amazing team of intelligent women.
