[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Meghan JAs a transplant to California from Atlanta,GA, I am delighted to be with the My Nursing Coach team. It is a truly wonderful working with a team that shares my philosophy on mothering and breastfeeding.

I believe that breastfeeding is a communal, yet lost art. Many women know the benefits and theory behind breastfeeding, but have no practice or knowledge on how it is actually carried out. I was one of those moms!

With my first child, I did not have any support with nursing. Heck, I didn’t even know that breastfeeding support existed. I had struggle after struggle and I quickly became frustrated with the experience. Needless to say, I did not meet my breastfeeding goals. Not long afterwards, I found myself holding another positive pregnancy test. My first thoughts were joyful and exciting. Then I thought of breastfeeding. I was determined to meet my goals. As I sought out books, classes and support groups, I discovered the valuable resource of the IBCLC and a lactation consultant.

I remember feeling empowered and confident after my second child came into this world. That child was breastfed for 3.5 years, much longer than my initial goal.

I always want to leave each mother feeling empowered and confident in her decision to feed her child the way she wants to, despite some negative influences in our culture. As a lactation consultant, it is not my goal to sell you on breastfeeding. My mission is to make sure you feel supported and cared for with whatever feeding method you choose. I want you to meet your personal goal, whatever that might be.

The icing on the cake for me is when a client sends me a picture of their happy, healthy baby, thanking me for validating them and helping them through a tough time. In return, I see these same moms supporting and lifting up other new mothers with the same care and compassion that I provided for them. I see the village forming within the community and it reassures me that I have indeed found my calling.[/vc_column_text][image_with_text image=”17104″]
